"Suzanne," Leonard Cohen "Like a Rolling Stone," Bob Dylan "Jean," Oliver "Stairway to Heaven," Led Zepplin and perhaps something from Rod McKuen, even though I'm not a big fan of his.
I'll basically agree with Cap'n Bob and note that it shouldn't be any surprise that Leonard Cohen's songs are poetic, since Cohen has spent most of his life identifying himself primarily as a poet and secondarily as a singer-songwriter (and tertiarily as a novelist, though others would probably place that in fourth place behind lady's man).

I vote for Bob Dylan's songs.
When I saw the article title, the first thing that popped into my mind was "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan.
"Johhny's in the basement mixin' up the medicine, ..."
Why wasn't "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" on that list? Scandalous.
