An old, departed friend of mine, Bud Breen, was one of the local extras in "The Alamo.". In one scene, he's a Texas soldier shooting, and then it immediately cuts to another scene showing him as the Mexican soldier getting shot!

So you and the Duke were practically best pals, too, I'll bet.

"The Alamo" was the first movie that I saw in a Drive-in theater. I was 5 years old and my father, my uncle, my brother and a cousin were in the car. I remember being seated in the back between my brother and cousin. I fell asleep very early in the film. But later having seen it many times on TV, I've always enjoyed it. After all...He is the "Duke."

I actually did meet both the Duke and Jim Hutton once a long time ago when I was in the 9th grade. They were filming part of the movie "The Hellfighters" in Baytown, TX, and I knew all the trails that led through the woods and onto the movie set. I was disappointed, though. My real goal was to get to know Katharine Ross a little better!

She celebrated her 70th birthday last week.
