I imagine this might've nudged along the thinking of Joss Whedon...certainly, I see a goofy, ruthless ancestor of Buffy Summers and Veronica Mars here. Wonder whatever happened to Lucinda Dooling.

I, too, am a reasonably loyal fan of Geena Davis, though I would much prefer watching her qualify for the Olympic archery team than watch, say, COMMANDER IN CHIEF (or even CUTTHROAT ISLAND). The *koff* auteur of CIC would be another of my highschoolmates...who's had a career that also includes similarly goofily preachy films and television.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3668066.post-77809112693377672632007-01-22T12:26:00.000-06:002007-01-22T12:26:00.000-06:00Ah, it seems my memory was somewhat hazy...she's m...Ah, it seems my memory was somewhat hazy...she's more like Gidget with a Death Wish, only she's more than a match for the drug dealers at her high school. And, thanks to MST3K, with Neil Connery's turn as 007's brother. Despite a pomo photographer's JANE BOND project mentioned in AMERICAN PHOTO a while back, I'm not sure anyone's bothered much with the distaff insatiable superspy; the best, closest example I can think of is the mommy-track spy in THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, and that very late in the 1990s (an underappreciated film, I maintain). I mean, Honey West was a detective (of sorts) and the Girl from UNCLE, definitely not the Woman from UNCLE, seems from what little I've seen to might as well've been the Girl Scout from UNCLE...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
