Signed by th...One of my favorite players as a kid. Signed by the Yankees in 1950--at age 25, his first professional contract. Started at AAA--37 extra base hits with KC in 95 games. Buried by the Yankees until he was 31. They sold his contract to KC; he had the one big year (at age 33). Yankees got him back at age 35 (1960). You have to wonder what his career would have looked like if he'd had a real shot when he was 25 or 26...(in 4 minor league seasons with KC--then a Yankee farm club--he hit .319/.373/.588 (BA/OBA/SA), with 47 triples in a little more than 2 full seasons (76 HRSs).
