I remember those ads. Guess I noticed because my great-grandmother used Cloverine. Now the ads remind me of my time selling Grit newspaper in the '60's. Same setup, cash and prizes. I rarely sold more than 5 papers an issue. Biweekly, I think. I actually rode my bicycle about 3 miles or so on the dirt county road around the area to deliver one issue. I think I got 5c per issue. Don't even remember what sorts of fabulous prizes I got either, although I think I did get a battery powered bike headlight/taillight set. Nowadays Grit is a clone of Mother Earth News magazine. Then it was a newspaper similar in looks to National Enquirer, but more serious. Geared mostly toward '50's era rural life with stay at home moms and so on. Wish I still had a few copies.

I sold a poem to Grit once upon a time.

What? Now, that has to be a rare collectible issue, Bill. I think we'd all like to read the poem. What do you say, gang? Clap your hands if you want Bill to reprint this rhyme!

I don't think I have a copy of the issue.
