Big hair and lipgloss: Unsung girl groups of the 70s and 80s

These almost all seem like those are groups made up of pretty girls corralled by a producer who skillfully used background singers and production "sweeteners". Less girl groups than "product". But I'm glad they mentioned Fanny, one of my favorite very early true all-girl bands.

I was going to say, this is more Disco Deb's era than mine. I never heard of any of them. I like the colors.

I like the hair.

Jeff-none of these bands had any success in the U.S.A. No reason you would have heard of them.
I never remember that many women with big hair back then. But I hung more with a punkish crowd at that time and short hair was more in then.

The clothes just never get any better.

Incidentally, maybe 20 (maybe 25) years ago I saw a musical in Chicago called "Beehive," which focused on a somewhat earlier generation of "girl groups" and was flat out fantastic. I have no idea if it ever went anywhere else.
