I remember Bobby Richardson winning MVP even though the Yankees (inexplicably; bad managerial decisions by Casey Stengel being the primary culprit) lost the 1960 WS, despite outscoring Pittsburgh 55-27.

What did Casey do wrong? He held his best pitcher (by far), Whitey Ford, back from the first two games in Pittsburgh, supposedly because the short left field was less friendly to him than the huge expanse of Yankee Stadium's 457 foot left field. So what happened? The Yankees lost game 1 behind Art Ditmar. Ford pitched game 3 and shut the Pirates out, 10-0. So was Casey right? Not hardly. After losing 2 more games in the Bronx (one pitched by Mr. Ditmar), Whitey had to pitch in Forbest Field. Uh oh, right? No, this time it was a 12-0 shutout. Had he pitched games 1 and 4 he would have been available to shut the Pirates down (out?) in a potential game 7.

/end galloping NY Yankees nostalgia - stay off my lawn!

Where's Mickey Mantle's name? It seems unbelievable he wasn't named.
