I guess I didn't realize how much I wanted Clinton to win, how much I didn't believe a Trump win was a possibility. I'm in shock. The Group I thought were a far-right minority (many of them bigoted, misogynic, homophobic, evangelicals) have assumed control, not just of the Republican Party, but of the nation. The gullible right has nodded and voted.

I already said it, but I'll repeat: I'm in shock. I need more ice cream.

Yeah, I agree, it ain't easy.

On the bright side, Clinton won the popular vote. This is hardly a mandate for Trump.

Just back from checking the numbers:

- For Clinton: 59,814,018.

- For Trump: 59,611,678.

- Advantage: 203,340 - Clinton.

Without the Electoral College, Hillary Clinton is President-Elect - by a whisker, admittedly ...

Anyway, worst case, it's a dead heat.

For a comparison, in 1960, JFK's Popular Vote advantage over Nixon: 119,450.

Next stop: 2018 midterms.
Definitely carry on.

Being the kind of guy I am, I got interested in turnout data, and took a look;
http://signsofchaos.blogspot.com/2016/11/voting-trends.html

"Voter turnout simply at the 2012 level would have meant roughly 9 million additional votes cast this year. As it was, the total number of voted declined from about 129 million to about 125.5 million, instead of rising by at all, even though the population of eligible voters rose by about 10 million."

As Deb's secret husband Stephen Stills put it: "Rejoice, rejoice/We have no choice/But to carry on."

And from the biblical/philosophical perspective: "This too shall pass."
