So many people have covered this Leonard Cohen song-Nick Cave, John Cale, Rufus Wainwright, K.D. Lang. I like most of the covers with the exception of K.D. Lang's. There has even been a book written about it. Cohen had a new cd come out this week. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but his previous cd was his best in years.
I like the new one a lot.
Great interview with Cohen a couple of weeks ago in The New Yorker. He's now 82 and says he's "getting his papers in order." There's also several long quotations from Bob Dylan in the article where he (Bob) goes into incredible detail about how sophisticated musically Cohen's work is. Even if I hadn't already felt the Nobel was justified, reading Dylan's analysis of Cohen would have confirmed that the Committee did the right thing.
