Again, the casual ignorance and lack of basic fact-checking on these articles astounds me. Yes, Jessica Lange may be currently best known for her work on American Horror Story, but she's also one of a handful of actresses to have won two Academy Awards. No mention of that. Also, Andrew Hackson was most definitely not Lincoln's Vice President! Dude, Google is your friend.

/otoh, kudos for mention of the massively-underrated "The Beguiled".

Jackson

/no one will believe it, but that was autocorrected!

I suppose I could - if I tried very, very hard - come up with a worse list, but it wouldn't be easy. The Beguiled is one of the few things I'd put on there. Heaven's Gate? Gangs of New York? Two magician movies? No, no, and no.

Along the lines of Deb's comment, the smallest amount of research - like asking anyone who knows anything about the 1970's or movie history - would have told him that The Deer Hunter was NOT Cimino's debut feature. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was 4 years earlier.

I know Deb has already said it, but it is worth saying again - Vice President Andrew JACKSON? Seriously?

The Elephant Man was beaten at the Oscars by Raging Bull in only TWO categories, not "all of them" (8) as indicated.

This article is pretty much ignorance, personified.

Would not have chosen The Conspirator or Hildago. Never saw In Secret. Glad to see The Beguiled, Tess, The Elephant Man and Gangs of New York. Heavens Gate is a mess but no where as bad as its often made out to be, but I wouldn't have included it here.
I would have included McCabe & Mrs Miller.

The presence of Heaven's Gate alone makes this list a laugher.

Have these bozos never heard of GONE WITH THE WIND? I know they think that motion pictures were invented around 1970 (the good very old days to them), but sheesh!

And note these are all Hollywood movies. Hence, no YOJIMBO, no NOSFERATU and no THE EMIGRANTS.
