Gogi Grant, R. I. P.

Gogi Grant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Gogi Grant (September 20, 1924 – March 10, 2016) was an American popular singer. She is best known for her No. 1 hit in 1956, "The Wayward Wind".

They call them "1-hit wonders" dismissively, but if I'd done "Wayward Wind" I'd look back and be proud of it.

I always liked "The Wayward Wind" a lot. It was on an album my parents played incessantly and I have it on a 4 CD collection of songs from 1956-59.

I liked her, too. I dimly recall she quit her record company when they insisted she cut an album of Beatles tunes. Those were the days when even Lawrence (I always called him "Larry") Welk wore bell bottoms and wide flowery neckties.
