Just yesterday I saw an updated "how do they look now?" picture of Sacheen Littlefeather.

(Hint: 43 years older.)

I thought I read somewhere that she wasn't actually Native American. I remember after that incident, the Academy banned absent winners from sending others to accept the Oscar in their place.

I always remember the streaker because Liz Taylor was acting like a spinster schoolmarm about it and my mother (looking up, as always, from a book) said, "Oh come off it, Liz. It's not like after six husbands* he's showing you anything you haven't seen before!"

/*I think it was six at that point.

That would not be counting secret husbands.

What I remember of that show - other than David Niven's ad lib, of course - was at the end, when Liz Taylor said we should "honor America"by singing "God Bless America" (this years before sports took that up) and then stood there like a dummy, clearly not knowing the words.

Will the persecution never end?

Speaking of which, why don't we ever see Paris Hilton presenting an Oscar? Or at least Nicolas Cage? Or the two of them together?

That's about the only thing that would get me to watch.
