Lobby Cards: Little Pieces of Vintage Cinema

Years ago, I read an article about a couple who purchased an old house and, when they started renovation, discovered hundreds of lobby cards and posters behind the walls. Turns out, an owner in the 1920s had worked at a movie theater and took home the cards and posters weekly to use as insulation. The posters (many of which represented the only remaining information about the movie) were in pristine condition. The couple sold them to fund their renovations.

Sadly, no. I should mention that the retired college president here owns all the lobby cards for CASABLANCA. He keeps them in a safety deposit box at a local bank. He had color copies made, and he keeps those at home to look at.

I looked at the ABE site...some of those are quite pricey...fortunately (or not) there are repros available...
