If you haven't already read it, I strongly recommend Leslie Garis's memoir, The House of Happy Endings. Both of her grandparents wrote children's book series under pseudonyms. These books (Uncle Wiggily, Bobbsey Twins) had both positive and negative impacts on the family.

I should read it, all right. I loved Uncle Wiggly and the Bobbsey Twins.

You mean all those R. L. Stine books that I saw on the shelves were not really written by R. L Stine? I am shocked!

The most interesting version of this was the Shadow novels. Though they were written under the house name of Maxwell Grant by a few different writers, the vast majority of the three hundred novels were written by Walter Gibson.

My youngest daughter still hasn't forgiven me for telling her that the Babysitter's Club books were ghosted.

So Fascinating, and brings back special memories. I started my love of mysteries with the Hardy Boys in the early 60's. I enjoyed learning more about their history in this article - thanks! Love the stuff you dig up Bill!
