Edgar Allan Poe's Birthday

Since today is the birthday of Edgar Allan Poe, I couldn't let it pass without a snapshot of me at the site of his grave back in 2008.

Not to diss poor EAP, but, having recently acquired Otto's Big Book of Locked-Room Mysteries, I had occasion to read Murders in the Rue Morgue for the first time since I was a teenager. I thought the story was ridiculous then and it seems my opinion hasn't changed a bit. I suppose, though, if Poe had had a chance to see Every Which Way But Loose he might have come up with a better story.

I always enjoyed pointing out some of the goofy stuff in this story to my students. "The Purloined Letter" has even goofier stuff.
