Neil Armstrong, R. I. P.

Neil Armstrong, First Man To Walk On The Moon, Has Died: Neil Alden Armstrong has died at age 82. He was an astronaut, pilot, aerospace engineer, professor, and was the first person to set foot upon the Moon. His most famous words: “That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Agree with Jerry. I was with Armstrong in spirit on that first step and would dearly love to have been there physically.

And "Whos Neil Armstong?" is a trending topic on Twitter. It makes you weep.

I've posted an interesting curiosity on my blog; a clip from the old quiz show "I've Got A Secret" that aired live on the day that Neil Armstrong was announced as an astronaut. The clip features Armstrong's parents, and in an amazing moment host Gary Moore asks them how they would feel if ti turned out that their son was the first man to walk on the Moon!

Summer of 69 I kept two scrapbooks: one was of the Atlanta Braves (they were in the Western Division at the time and went all the way to the League Championship); the other of Apollo 11 and the moon landing. I wish I still had those scrapbooks today.
