Donald J. Sobol, R. I. P.

Encyclopedia Brown Author Donald J. Sobol Has Died - GalleyCat: Encyclopedia Brown author Donald J. Sobol has passed away. He was 87 years old.


This GalleyCat editor will never forget the hours and hours he spent devouring this Edgar Award-winning mystery series. In addition to these books, Sobol also wrote the Two Minute Mystery series from 1959 until 1968. He launched Encyclopedia Brown in 1963, and the books are still available today from Penguin.

I still have a book of Sobol's Two Minute Mysteries that I got from the Scholastic Book Club circa 1969.

Sad news / Much loved as a children's author. Later series were the ENCLYCLOPEDIA BROWN'S WEIRD AND WONDERFUL FACTS and more non-juvenile fic oriented books.

I can still hear my son laughing at his books. A real favorite of his. Sad.
