Once Again, Texas Leads the Way

CBS Dallas / Fort Worth: The City of Fort Worth has found itself asking, ‘What would Jesus do?’ after one of the city’s street lights fell and damaged a man’s car.

Under Texas law, the city isn’t responsible for the damage. Rather, it’s considered an act of God.

God didn't put that street light up there--and he didn't park the car under it.

Seems like an act of negligence to me since if those things are properly installed they don't fall from the pole they're on. I'll have to ask my brother, who is a foreman for the electronics department of the City of Saskatoon (they install traffic lights) what he thinks of this one. I have a feeling that it wouldn't qualify as an "act of God" around here.
