Although all of these are true, I have never seen a movie at home that wasn't ten times better on a big screen with the smell of popcorn in the air.

That list is spot-on, for a lot of theaters, but there is one theater that gives an experience that is way better than staying home.

One of my favorite theaters is the Loews Jersey City. It is a movie palace from 1929 that still looks largely the same. It has a 50 ft screen, and a lighted organ that comes out of the ground. They show old movies one weekend a month, and the cost of admission is only $7 for one movie, and double features are usually $12. Popcorn, candy and soda are $1.

When I went to see a pristine 35mm print of CAPE FEAR, the whole evening cost me $12.50. $7 for the ticket, $3.50 for the train ticket to Jersey, and $2 for popcorn and soda. That's less than a lot of movies cost in Manhattan.

(And if you're wondering, I wasn't paid for that endorsement.)

Other than the rude imbeciles, I can live with the rest of that.

WV: hinted. Dang, someone help me with this one. Just a clue...
