So no 'The Last Dangerous Visions'? That's 40 years I've wasted...

I read a lot of his work when I was in my twenties and was deeply impressed. I'm very sorry to hear he's at the end of the trail. Anyone know what's ailing him?

I don't know. He seems to think it's all over, but he doesn't say what the cause is.

Love his work. I've wanted to meet him in person, at least once.

Ellison said years ago he had work done for his heart (bypass); I could say we might speculate this could be something else, or could be just age. Maybe he can hang on. Just hang on.

Deathbird Stories - a favorite.

But the ESSENTIAL ELLISON in either of two editions has some very nice gems of stories.

An interesting guy. I've met him twice. One of the SF greats, for sure.

Great piece, and thank you, Bill, for pointing us to it. I've always had mixed feelings about Ellison, like some of his work, some seems awfully egocentric, and his bad boy of SF reputation was, perhaps, cultivated a little too much by him, but he sure could write.
