Rain

Just emptied five inches of water out of the rain gauge. Emptied five inches out yesterday, too. It's still raining. This is the most rain we've had around here in a long time.

I guess that at least means everything is nice and green (unless you drive south to the beach).

I don't know if it's green out there or not. It's raining so hard I can't tell.

Ark is under construction.

Yikes! So far we're having a very dry - and hot - summer season. I'd rather have cool and wet, though five inches of rain in a day is beyond anything I want to see.

The weather has been weird this year. First the snowiest February (not snowiest month, but close) ever, followed by a March that was the wettest month (yes, month this time) ever.

Last year June was wet and cool, this year hot and dry.

Hurricane Alex is really dumping the rain on this area. I'm just glad it's far, far away.

Look on the bright side, you don't have to mow the lawn when it's raining.

Here on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain we've had one of the wettest weeks I can remember. On Monday, my sister-in-law left her house (about 10 minutes away) to bring my daughters and niece to my house. She got caught in a deluge and it took her almost an hour to get here, so much rain suddenly fell that all the streets were flooded. It continued to rain every day since then--with ferocious thunderstorms (one blew the powerboard in my air conditioner). Today is the first sunshine I've seen since last Sunday!
