Dick & Dee Dee

You old guys remember them, right? They have a neat webpage, and this one has a video clip from the long ago that might make you a little misty-eyed.

Hat tip to Fred Blosser.

  1. Without looking, I'd say they sang "Mountains High" or a title pretty darn close to that... now to look at the clip. Yep, got it the first time. Yay me. I had the 45. Purple label, I think.

  2. Oh, and that's Dee Dee...

  3. I really like the arrangement, harmony, and orchestration. The other versions I've heard (Bellefonte, Kingston Trio, the old Kodak commercial) keep things simple, but Dick & Dee Dee bat it over the fence. The song peaked at Billboard #24 on 12/26/63.

  4. A good version, and it shows they could do a nice ballad if the wanted to.

Of course I remember them. I think I have a 45 of "The Mountain's High" too. Wikipedia says Dick died in 2003.

  6. Hi Bill: I appreciate your wonderful comments about Turn Around. As someone mentioned, Dick St. John passed away in 2003. I've been singing the Dick and Dee Dee songs again with a new partner since 2009.
I also have a memoir out, titled, Vinyl Highway, Singing as Dick and Dee Dee.
    Best Wishes

  7. Thanks for commenting here, Dee Dee! I remember all those songs well. I'll have to check out the memoir.
