Taser Update

The Associated Press: Ark. officer who used stun gun on girl, 10, fired: "The police officer in a small Arkansas town who used a stun gun on an unruly 10-year-old girl has been fired for violating department policy — not for using the Taser itself but for failing to use the camera attached to it, according to the town's mayor."

Hat tip to John Duke.

How unruly could a ten-year old be? This is child abuse and should be prosecuted.

If I remember the original story rightly, it was the parent who called the police and gave permission for the tasering. Ye Gods!

Where were tasers when my brats were growing up?

Just kidding ...

Scary as it sounds, there are plenty of 10-year-olds who are packing, though I imagine almost all of them are girls. Not that this was the case, just responding to Patti's comment. Ten is about the age the gangs start recruiting. What a world.

Oops. I meant to say "almost all of them are boys".

As an ex-investigator, I know of an 8-year-old who killed both his grandparents. Kids can get unruly when they want to.

And Richard, over one period recently girls joining gangs increased by 150%, while male gang members only increased by 40%: they can be just as deadly.
