No TV Cable and Internet -- Day 18

So here I am again in my home away from home, Kroger.  As far as I know, there's no change in the cable service in Alvin.  Yesterday, my neighbor saw a Comcast technician in the neighborhood, but he was gone before she could get to him and question him.  One thing's for sure, though.  Comcast hasn't failed to get out its bills.  The one we received shows that last month we paid for service through September 22.  Well, for ten days of that time, we had no service.  This month's bill is for eight days (so far) that we've had no service.  Judy said, "Why should I pay it?  For all I know, we won't have service for another month."  Good point.

DON'T pay it, print out a big satellite picture from Hurricane Ike and mail that in place of your check. Then let them disconnect you and rediscover the joys of being outside and reading books. You'll never miss cable.

If you don't pay it, won't Comcast send someone out to your house to retrieve the cable box/DVR/remote, etc.? If so, then when he comes just pay him and tell him to hook you back up, since he's already there.

Or, you could home him hostage until Comcast sends some one to reconnect you.

I'm just sayin'.

Or I could switch to AT&T.

You'll be glad to know their non-stop campaign to get my business continues apace. I still get crap from them at least three times a month. Fat chance, Comcast.

I misspoke. Three times a WEEK I get their offers. I've though of saving them up and dumping them on their doorstep, but I have too many other wars to wage.

You're supposed to be able and call, and they will credit your account for time without service.

That's OK, Bill, I'm paying enough Comcast bill for everyone.

Houston does have a gratifying array of broadcast television. Even more with a digital over-the-air antenna.

And you can catch a lot of cable programming on the web, if the Kroger circumstances will comfortably allow.

Call Comcast and tell them you've been without their service since X date. As AT&T is doing with U-verse, Comcast will credit you for downtime, but you MUST call and request it.

We just got our final bill - after switching to U-verse - and I'd asked to be credited. Sure enough, they took about $35 off our bill.

Oh, and just to be clear . . . the "Dwight" in the first comment here is not me. I like books, but I have no interest in going outside!
