He & She

One of the great lost TV shows of the '70s is He & She. It wasn't a hit, but Judy and I never missed an episode. We still talk about it now and then. It's a crime that it's not available on DVD. My humble thanks to Jaime Weinman, who's posted an episode on this blog. It's just as funny as I remembered, and it doesn't seem to have dated at all.

The '60s, actually, Bill. I've heard nothing but good about it, but haven't seen one...I suspect I'll be at least listening to it while working tomorrow.

Geez, I'm surprised I even remember the '60s.

What the heck ever happened to Paula Prentiss? And Todd, I finally have the evidence you're not as old as you claim to be.

I never claim to be any older than I am...time passes fast enough for those relatively new to middle age!

Let's put it this way...I just old enough to have caught THE GREAT AMERICAN DREAM MACHINE as a sprat, and to be puzzled by some of the more abstract animation. So, HE AND SHE was on when I was three...not a time I would've been able to appreciate too many of its subtleties...

Paula Prentiss is happily married to Richard Benjamin. She's supposedly not that attracted to the "Hollywood scene" and has retired on a number of occasions to raise their two kids or because of illness. And on a personal not, let me just say that Paula soaking wet and semi-transparent in Man's Favorite Sport? is one of the major reasons why I love that movie.

Well, there certainly were a Lot of MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW folks working on this one, and the feel is similar, if still a bit more standard-sitcommy for its time than the pilot for MTM was. I could certainly see the resolution coming from some distance, but genearlly a pleasant listen. Prentiss's relative lack of career our loss.

The show got even better, and quirkier. I've been in love with Paula Prentiss since I saw WHERE THE BOYS ARE.
