A Sad State of Affairs

Hat tip to Vince Keenan.

• Hollywood Elsewhere •: "The weekend's biggest disaster, however, is unquestionably Paris Hilton's The Hottie & The Nottie, Mason reports. It opened yesterday on 111 screens 'and managed only $76 in ticket sales per location. That means that approximately 10 people showed up and bought a ticket at each of those 111 theatres today. Hottie will sell only an anticipated $23,000 during the 3-day weekend for a $207 perscreen average. That's about 26 ticket buyers per location for Friday-Sunday.'"

You may have to wait for the DVD. It's not even showing in Houston.

Houston? Houston? I live in Los Angeles! The town Paris Hilton Owns! The Hottie and the Nottie is on every street corner! As it should be! Hottie Avenue and Nottie Boulevard is an intersection here! It makes L. Ron Hubbard Way look like a dusty arroyo in which to shoot lame donkeys! Houston? Where is that? Do they have theaters there? If so, do they show talkies? Miss Hilton does not play Houston, Sir. Should you go to New York within the next 6 months I am sure you will find ample venues still showing this undoubtedly wondrous motion picture. Ben Hur played in New York for two years. So they are prepared for when movies arrive that are destined to be there for the long haul. Citizen Kane: The Seventh Seal; The Hottie and the Nottie. The Big three of motion picture perfection. Houston indeed. Hmmph.
