Terry Pratchett Update

Terry Pratchett has announced that he has a very rare form of early onset Alzheimer's disease. This is sad news. I was on a panel with Pratchett at an AggieCon several years ago and found him friendly, engaging, smart, and funny. Like his books. I wish him only the best.

Hello, Dr. Crider!

Now, here is a voice from your past. I remember how much I enjoyed your Literature Class at Howard Payne, and that I was allergic to something up in our room that made me sneeze every Mon., Wed., and Friday!

I am so delighted to find your blog and am hoping to find out which books you have written that you think would peak my interest.

My email address at home: janellen713@wmconnect.com and at work: jan.vinzant@dshs.state.tx.us. Please let me hear from you. I am eager to chat over our past memories.

God bless you,
Jan Timmons-Vinzant

Well, perhaps that takes the edge off the gloom...I was immediately reminded, alas, of Charles Beaumont, who didn't have quite as much time as Pratchett has had...and with luck, TP will be able to beat this, or at least work around it for a nice long while. As someone with A on both sides of the family, we can only hope to hold on.

Jan,

If I could make a suggestion: you'll not find anything like Bill taught in your HPU Lit. class among his writings, but you might enjoy the Carl Burns series for nostalgic purposes. Depending on your tastes in reading, Dan Rhodes is alive and kicking in small-town Texas.
