No Good Way to Say This

Judy's mother has a urinary tract infection, all right, but that's the good news. She also has a brain tumor, which overwhelmingly like to be malignant. She's 95, so I doubt that the doctors will recommend aggressive treatment. We got very little sleep last night, and I'm not sure how much more of this kind of news we can handle. Sorry to burden you with it, but your good thoughts and prayers will be much appreciated, as usual. Don't know how much blogging I'll get done. I'm not much in the mood, and we'll be at the hospital a lot for a while, I'm sure. Not to mention Judy's own appointments. Thanks for sticking by us.

There's very little justice; sometimes there's mercy. Judy and her mother are very lucky to have you to depend upon, and I suspect you them. May you all have better times, as much as possible, going forward. Thanks for letting us know, and sorry for all this.

Well, hell. There's no good time to get news like this, but Christmastime seems particularly cruel.

Don't worry about the blog, Bill, you look after your own. And best of luck to all of you.

Oh, and don't forget to look after yourself, Bill. It helps no one to wreck your own health.

Some years are just excruciating, aren't they? I wish I believed in the saying, God never gives you more than you can handle but I don't. Best as always.

Sorry to hear that, Bill (and Judy). 95 is an astonishing age to live to and let's hope she's not done yet.

Good luck.

Bill, do what you gotta do. I've been through this with one parent already, and the aftermath of the other.

The gators will be here when you get back.

My grandmother died of a brain tumor at age 89. You'd think that after her long, happy life, it would have been easy to say goodbye, but it wasn't.

Fortunately she lived to see my wife and son (my only child at the time), and to get to know them before her illness progressed too far.

Take care of what's important, as I'm sure you will. And know that there are a lot of us, even lurkers like myself, pulling for you and yours on this.

Be well and take care of yourself.

You guys are too kind. We talked to the doctor today, and we'll meet with the oncologist on Friday, probably, after a few more tests. Then will come the tough decisions.
