Sign at city limits: MEXIA: Once home of versatile performer Anna Nicole Smith, independent film-maker Larry Buchanan, and NEW YORK TIMES Bestselling Writer Bill Crider, who failed to change his name, against protocol.

Maybe that's my trouble: the name.

Mexia--It's out of this world. The birthplace of stars, celestial bodies, and those who see them.

Larry Buchanan made some of the all-time cheesiest, worst crappy movies of the 50s and 60s, stuff that makes Ed Wood look almost professional by comparison.

In 1965-66 alone, he made such anti-classics as The Eye Creatures, Mars Needs Women, Curse of the Swamp Creature (with John Agar), and In the Year 2889 (starring Paul Peterson).

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Zontar has to be one of the worst ever.

He died recently. Buchanan, that is. Did you see obits anywhere?

(Word up: "xicywaze" might describe one of his films.)

I think I had the obit here.

Mars needs women, but star Tommy Kirk apparently didn't. He was booted out of the Disney family after being caught having gay relations in public. Too bad. I enjoyed him in the Hardy Boys series.
