Top 25 Books of the Last 25 Years

Welcome to Waterstone's is celebrating 25 Years in books and as well having a vote for the best book of the last 25 years, we've also tried to predict who will be the biggest authors of the next 25 years.

The best book of the last 25 years was voted for by the public from a list of 100 nominations chosen by Waterstone's booksellers. The winner, announced on 16 May 2007, was Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

See the complete list here.

  1. Gerard1:23 PM

I've read three and seen five of the movie versions.

  2. Wow. I tried to read at least two of these, which defeated me. A pretty sad list, despite some solid choices (I'll be reading THE TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE sometime soon...AN's a fine writer, to judge from what I have read).

  3. That's one of the many I haven't read.

  4. Karin M5:28 PM

I've read five and can heartily recommend Notes from a Small Island and Angela's Ashes. I liked HP well enough and Da Vinci Code was an okay vacation book. But I really couldn't stand The Lovely Bones.

  5. I read The Lovely Bones on a plane. Thought it was a okay serial killer novel.
