Random House is already offering refunds... lawyers are idiots. Well, okay, too general. But you know what I mean.
From the look of it, the situation seems to be that lawyers got involved before the piece even showed up online. The situation certainly had Frey running scared from the outset.
Yeah, Guyot, a little too general indeed.
Guyot's comment reminds me of the yahoos who love to say, "Kill all the lawyers," but who've never read Henry VI, and consequently don't know what scumbags they're making themselves out to be.
So let me get this straight--they're threatening to sue for libel, because Smoking Gun is accusing this fellow of not being a scumbag and doing nasty things? Does anyone else smell the irony?
I seem to remember David allan Coe did this once...sued a journalist for claiming that Coe had NOT, as he claimed, spent time in prison for killing a man.
